Google has has continuously updated their algorithm to give better search results to their users. Many of the sites got slapped by the new algorithm update. Here is a simple note on ‘How to make your pages search engine friendly ?’
Google’s goal is to give people the most relevant answers to their queries . So the first thing we need to do is to create pages that are useful to people.
Give users what they are searching for
Google always loves pages that are created for people , not for search engine . If you are writing a topic about ’How to create a website? ‘ Then give proper information about that topic. Google slapped websites that are not providing any value and cluttered with affiliate links and advertisement.
Make content rich pages
Create content rich pages . Google algorithm punished pages with no or less content.
Remove or rewrite your no traffic pages
Remove or rewrite your no traffic pages. This technique really works for me. I rewrite some of the pages with little or no traffic . I added some updated information and removed the unwanted links . Now the page is getting decent traffic. Try this technique to improve your page rank.
Correct spelling and Grammar
Always do a spell and grammar check before publishing your pages. Try After the Deadline plugin for your WordPress blog. This will catch most of the spelling and grammatical errors.
Remove links from / to non related sites
Stop linking to sites that not related to your niche. For example , if you are writing about ‘health’ and you are pointing to ‘loan’ you will get penalized. Don’t buy links and don’t participate in link exchange or traffic exchange schemes . Remove links from/to bad sites.
Affiliate links
If you are using affiliate links , always use no follow tags.
Ad Placement
Google’s Page layout algorithm improvement will affect sites that go further to load the top of the page with ads to an excessive degree or that make it hard to find the real original content on the page. So keep above fold ads to a small number.
SEO
Search Engine Optimization is important to get high page rank and more traffic. but over optimization (black hat SEO) will be penalized .
